Organizations must meet a specific set of criteria to apply for a grant. If the following requirements are met, an organization may apply:
- Organization is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit in good standing with the IRS and designated as a public charity as defined under Section 509(a)1 or 509(a)2
- Organization can provide most recent Form 990, Form 990–N, or Form 990–EZ
- Organization’s purpose falls under at least one of the Foundation’s key Giving Pillars: Affordable Housing, Education, Youth Programs or Health and Human Services
- Organization serves one or more communities where a Blue Foundry Bank branch is located.
Blue Foundry Charitable Foundation will generally NOT consider requests from or in support of the following:
- Private foundations or grants to other grant-making organizations
- Sponsorships of any kind, including, but not limited to, galas, golf outings, performances, or other special events
- Individual endeavors
- Political lobbying or legislative activities
- Religious activities
- Existing deficits, retroactive funding, or debt reduction
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities
GRANT DESCRIPTIONS, CRITERIA AND CONSIDERATIONS
Challenge
Grant
Grants to be approved in amounts up to $2,500.
Local volunteer run organizations with one or fewer employees are eligible for the Community Challenge Grant.
Blue Foundry Charitable Foundation will give a 1:1 match, up to $2,500, of funds raised by accepted organizations.
- Grant recipients must agree to send at least one email and/or mailed letter notifying constituents of the Blue Foundry Community Challenge Matching Grant.
- Communication will include the provided flyer and Blue Foundry Charitable Foundation and Blue Foundry Bank Back link(s).
- Applications will be accepted January 15- March 1, 2024
- Application acceptance notification to be provided in March
- Challenge period will take place during 4 week period of April 2024.
- Match reconciliation due May 2024.
- Checks to be disbursed June 2024.

Grants to be approved in amounts between $1,000-$7,500.
Applicant review process may take up to 4 months from time of submission.
Accepting Applications January 15, 2024 – November 1, 2024.

- Notifications of approval or declination are communicated quarterly
- Requests for money already spent will not be considered
- Our priority is funding requests from organizations with annual operating budgets of $10 million or less
Grants to be approved in amounts between $7,501-$25,000.
Applicant review process may take up to 7 months from time of submission.
Accepting Applications March 15, 2024 – May 1, 2024.

- Notifications of approval or declination will be communicated in October 2024
- Requests for money already spent will not be considered
- Our priority is funding requests from organizations with annual operating budgets of $10 million or less
Grants to be approved in amounts between $25,001-$100,000.
Organizations who have received a Silver or Gold Level Grant from Blue Foundry Charitable Foundation are eligible to submit a letter of inquiry. Only organizations that have received an invitation, subsequent to letter of inquiry submission, are eligible to apply. Applicant review process may take up to 11 months from time of submission.
Interested qualifying organizations should submit a letter of inquiry between January 15, 2024 – March 1, 2024.
Accepting Applications through May 1, 2024.

- Site visits will be performed in July and August
